Due to the popularity of the Calligraphy workshops, we are delighted to let you know that Guanghwa Bookshop has organised a further Weekend Calligraphy workshop which will be held on Saturday 13th December.
• Calligraphy Workshop on Saturday 13th December from 14:15 to 16:45.
Topic: Appreciation of the ancient famous Calligrapher Yan Zhenqing 颜真卿
Yan Zhenqing 颜真卿 (709–785 CE) was a leading Chinese calligrapher, a loyal military general, and an official of the Tang Dynasty. He is considered one of the greatest calligraphers in Chinese history, whose revolutionary style, known as Yan script (Yanti), brought a new sense of strength and boldness to the art form.
This workshop is suitable for those who have done some calligraphy courses before and would like to learn more about the art.
The cost for a two hours thirty minutes session is £25, and we will provide the materials.
Due to the limited number of places for the workshop, do let us know if you are interested in attending this calligraphy workshop session.
• Calligraphy Tutor: Mr Jian Chu Xu
Mr. Xu started to learn Chinese calligraphy in 1980 under supervision of late calligrapher Mr. Laoyun Yu who was a famous Chinese calligrapher. Mr. Xu is the chairman of the Chinese Poetry Calligraphy & Painting Society of UK, Honorary Principal of Shifu Art College of China. He received an excellence award in the Chinese calligraphy competition UK in 2011 and a special award in the international Chinese competition in 2014.
