Pride Reads at Guanghwa: Beyond Pride Month
Since 2022, Guanghwa Bookshop is proud to present our annual Pride Mini Book Fair, celebrating queer literature, storytelling and scholarship from Chinese-speaking and wider East and Southeast Asian communities.
Our Pride collections bring together Chinese-language queer fiction, transgender writing, queer science fiction, nonfiction, gender studies, feminist works and books from across the ESEA diaspora. You can explore our current and past editions online, with more editions to come in the future.
Although the fair takes place annually around Pride Month, our commitment is year-round. These books are not only available in June: we continue to stock, sell and display queer titles on our bookshop shelves throughout the year, adding new works whenever possible.
Based in London’s Chinatown—a space where queer voices are still often underrepresented—we believe it is especially important to make room for these stories. Through our book fair and ongoing collection, we hope to support queer readers, writers and communities, while giving greater visibility to Chinese-speaking and ESEA queer experiences.
