Collection: Celebrate Women in Translation Month
Since 2013, Women in Translation Month (WITMonth) has grown into a vibrant tradition in the literary world. It’s a time to celebrate women authors and translators working in languages other than English — and to honour the essential work of translation that brings their voices across borders.
This year, we’re shining a particular light on Sinophone and ESEA women in translation — a space that remains deeply underrepresented in English-language publishing. From poetry to novels, short stories to non-fiction, these works offer rich, complex perspectives that challenge the dominant literary canon and expand our understanding of the world.
We’re especially proud to highlight the work of women translators who engage with these texts not only linguistically but often politically and personally — as cultural mediators, feminist allies, and advocates for the stories that might otherwise go unheard. Their labour ensures that Sinophone and ESEA women’s voices are not just translated, but truly carried — with care, context, and conviction.
By breaking linguistic and cultural barriers, these translators help build a more inclusive and equitable literary landscape. Together, they remind us that a richer, more diverse literary world isn’t just possible — it’s already unfolding, line by line.

- Beyond August
Our commitment to Sinophone and ESEA women in translation doesn’t end when the month does. These voices deserve space and visibility all year round — not just in August. As we continue growing this collection, we’ll be adding more authors, translators, and works over time. Thank you for being part of this journey — and stay tuned for more discoveries to come.
