Chinese Seal Carving Service
We offer a professional Chinese stone seal carving service. All seals are carved by an artist who has worked with Guanghwa Bookshop for more than 10 years.
The craving process usually takes approximately 1 to 2 weeks. Please see the information below for details of how to place an order.
1. If You Have Your Own Seal Stone
If you already have a seal stone and know the characters you would like carved, your preferred script style, and whether you would like an intaglio carving or a raised carving, please bring the stone to our shop.
Simply explain your carving requirements to a member of staff, make payment, and leave the stone with us.
If you are unfamiliar with the script styles and carving styles commonly used for Chinese seals, or are unsure whether to choose an intaglio or raised design, please refer to Section 3 below.
2. If You Need to Purchase a Seal Stone
If you do not already have a seal stone, you are welcome to visit our shop and choose one from our selection.
We stock a range of stones suitable for traditional Chinese seal carving.
Once you have selected your stone, please let a member of staff know the characters you would like carved, your preferred script style, and whether you would like an intaglio or raised seal. After payment has been made, you may leave the stone with us for engraving.
If you are unfamiliar with Chinese seal script and carving styles, or are unsure whether to choose an intaglio or relief design, please refer to Section 3 below.
3. Choosing an Carving Style and Script
If you are unfamiliar with the different script and carving styles used for Chinese seals, please refer to the example images provided.
In addition to the characters you would like carved, please select:
- Your preferred carving technique: intaglio or raised
- Your preferred script
Once you have made your selection, please inform a member of staff.
4. Allowing the Artist to Choose the Design
You may also ask the artist to select the most suitable carving technique, script style and overall layout based on the characters and the shape and features of your stone.
In this case, simply provide us with the characters you would like carved and let us know that you would like the artist to make the design decisions.
5. Number of Characters and Pricing
In most cases, each seal is suitable for carving with 1-4 Chinese characters. We can also help you determine the appropriate number of characters and layout based on the size of your seal stone.
Our standard prices are:
- One to two Chinese characters: £25
- Three to four Chinese characters: £35
For designs containing more than 4 Chinese characters, please provide us with the dimensions of the seal stone, the characters you would like carved, and your preferred script. We will pass these details to the artist for assessment and contact you with further advice and a quotation.
6. Carving Non-Chinese Names
If you would like a non-Chinese name carved, please translate or transliterate the name into Chinese before providing it to us.
A Chinese name used for seal carving will usually consist of 2 to 4 Chinese characters.
We can also assist you with translating or transliterating your name into Chinese. There is no additional charge for this service.
7. Re-Carving an Existing Stone Seal
We can remove the existing carving from a stone seal by grinding the carved surface flat and then carving a new design.
Please bring the seal to our shop, hand it to a member of staff, and explain your new carving requirements.
There is no additional charge for grinding and preparing the existing seal surface.
8. Collection and Postal Delivery
Once your completed seal has been returned to our shop, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know that it is ready for collection.
If you are unable to collect it in person, you may either:
- Ask another person to collect it on your behalf; or
- Arrange for us to post it to your chosen address
Postage costs will be calculated according to the delivery address. We normally use Royal Mail or DPD for delivery.

篆刻服务说明
我们提供专业的中国石章篆刻服务。篆刻工作由与光华书店合作超过十年的艺术老师完成，一般需要 1至2周。具体流程如下：
一、自备印石
如您已经自备印石，请直接将印石带到店内。
您只需向店员说明具体的篆刻要求，完成付款后，将印石留在店内即可。
如您暂时不了解中国石章常用的字体、篆刻风格，或不确定应选择阴文还是阳文，请参考第三部分的说明。
二、到店选购印石
如您没有自备印石，可以到店内挑选适合篆刻的石材。
我们提供多种尺寸适合中国石章篆刻印石。
选好印石后，如您已经确定需要篆刻的文字、字体，以及采用阴文或阳文，请将具体要求告知店员。完成付款后，您可以将印石留在店内，由我们安排篆刻。
如您暂时不了解中国石章常用的字体、篆刻风格，或不确定应选择阴文还是阳文，请参考第三部分的说明。
三、选择篆刻方式与字体
如您对中国石章的字体和篆刻风格不太了解，请参考我们提供的示例图片。
除需要篆刻的文字内容外，请您从示例中选择：
- 篆刻方式：阴文或阳文
- 字体及篆刻风格
确定后，请将您的选择告知店员。
四、由篆刻老师代为设计
如您希望由篆刻老师根据文字内容和印石特点，代为选择合适的篆刻方式、字体及整体布局，请提前告知我们。
您只需提供希望篆刻的文字内容，其余设计可交由篆刻老师处理。
五、篆刻字数与收费标准
一般情况下，每枚印章适合篆刻 1至4个汉字。我们也可以根据印石的尺寸，协助您确认适合篆刻的字数及排版方式。
收费标准如下：
- 1至2个汉字：£25
- 3至4个汉字：£35
如需篆刻 4个以上的汉字，请将印石的尺寸、需要篆刻的文字内容及您选择的字体或篆刻风格告知我们。我们会将相关信息转交给篆刻老师确认，并在收到回复后尽快向您提供报价及建议。
六、非中文姓名的篆刻
如您希望篆刻非中文姓名，请先将姓名翻译或音译为中文后，再将中文姓名提供给我们。
用于篆刻的中文姓名通常为 2至4个汉字。
如您需要我们协助翻译或音译姓名，也可以告知店员。此项服务不另行收费。
七、旧印章磨平后重新篆刻
我们也接受将已有石章的原印面磨平后重新篆刻。
如您有此类需求，请将石章带到店内交给店员，并说明希望重新篆刻的文字及其他要求。
印面磨平处理不收取额外费用。
八、完成后的领取与邮寄
篆刻完成并送回店内后，我们会第一时间通知您领取。
如您无法亲自到店，也可以选择：
- 委托他人代为领取
- 由我们邮寄至您指定的地址
邮费将根据实际收件地址计算。我们一般使用 Royal Mail 或 DPD 寄送。
