Next Weekend On-Site Painting Courses will start on Sunday 26th July

Hope you are all keeping well and coping with the hot weather.

Due to the popularity of our painting courses, we are pleased to let you know that Guanghwa Bookshop has organised two more weekend on-site painting courses which will start on Sunday 26th July.

Please note: these are TWO DIFFERENT courses. One runs in the morning. One runs in the afternoon. You may enrol in either course independently, and each six-week course is charged separately.

Both courses will run every Sunday for six weeks, the venue is at the bookshop, and we will provide the materials.

• Course Fee Options:
Full six-week course: £96
Flexible option: £18 per session
Please note: the flexible option is for those who cannot commit to all six sessions. You will still need to book the dates and pay in advance to secure your place for the sessions you wish to attend. Drop-ins on the day are not available.

• The Morning Painting Course
• Beginner and Above Level
• Time: 11:30 to 13:30
• Topics: How to paint Canna Indica (Canna Lily) and Dragon Flies or Snails (美人蕉和蜻蜓或蜗牛), Water Lilies and Frogs or Fishes (睡莲和青蛙或鱼), Marigolds with Bees or Butterflies (万寿菊和蜜蜂或蝴蝶).

The sequence is as follows: Canna Indica ( Canna Lily) and Dragon Flies or Snails on 26 Jul and 2 Aug. Water Lilies with Frogs or Fishes on 9 Aug and 16 Aug, Marigolds and Bees or Butterflies on 23 Aug and 30 Aug.

• The Afternoon Painting Course 
• Beginner and Above Level
• Time: 14:30 to 16:30
• Topic: How to paint Lychee Tree and Small Birds or Cicadas(荔枝树和小鸟或蝉), Grapes Vines, and Small Birds or insects(萄葡藤和小鸟或昆虫), How to paint the famous Chinese artist Qi Baishi's style of paintings: Gourd and Luffa Plants (名家齐白石的葫芦图和丝瓜图).

The sequence is as follows: Lychee Tree and Small Birds or Fishes on 26 Jul and 2 Aug, Grapes Vines and Small Birds or insects on 9 Aug and 16 Aug, Famous Chinese artist Qi Baishi's style of paintings: Gourd Plant on 23 Aug and Luffa Plant on 30 Aug.

• Dates: 26 July, 2 Aug, 9 Aug, 16 Aug, 23 Aug, 30 Aug.

• Painting Tutor: Mr Jian Chu Xu

Mr. Xu started to learn Chinese calligraphy in 1980 under supervision of late calligrapher Mr. Laoyun Yu who was a famous Chinese calligrapher. Mr. Xu is the chairman of the Chinese Poetry Calligraphy & Painting Society of UK, Honorary Principal of Shifu Artqq1 College of China. He received an excellence award in the Chinese calligraphy competition UK in 2011 and a special award in the international Chinese competition in 2014.
